BFN and the City of Fredericton worked together over a period of 4 years, with numerous stakeholder consultation sessions to create the Main Street Urban Design Plan for the business improvement area. The plan establishes a series of guiding principles and “big moves” that will frame a bold new vision for Main Street and the surrounding area. This re-imagining of Main Street offers a unique opportunity to transform the central business district of Fredericton North into a more diversified and vibrant area for businesses and residents alike where people live, walk to work, visit local businesses and invest.
As well, the Main Street Built Form Guidelines and Main Street Design Manual were also created and include policies related to scale, character and design of both public and private building developments.
These three documents were adopted by Fredericton City Council and now provide developers and the City of Fredericton with a long term vision of our Main Street.
