For Immediate Release

Fredericton, New Brunswick – Business Fredericton North Inc. (BFN) is pleased to announce it has received federal funding for its Let’s Meet on Main campaign, which focuses on highlighting the various products, services and businesses in the area, as well as a massive increase in free events for the public including outdoor summer concerts, movies in the park, and special event days. Let’s Meet on Main runs from July through to December, encouraging the public to come back to the business improvement area.
With early confirmation of this funding, BFN was able to increase its Outdoor Summer Concert Series to two nights a week, hosting concerts at the Nashwaaksis Commons on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, for a total of 26 concerts this season. BFN has also been able to provide four family-friendly free Movies in the Park in July and August at the Mitch Clarke Nashwaaksis Park. As well, multiple special event days are being held from August to December. These events are free to the public and include music and family activities, with the final one set to celebrate the holiday season.

The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), provided a contribution of $78,698 for this project.

“The success of main street businesses is essential to building strong, vibrant and resilient communities,” said Jenica Atwin, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA. “This investment will help reinvigorate Fredericton’s north side and encourage people to rediscover and celebrate their city, producing economic benefits throughout the region.”

Brian Wall, BFN President, notes: “The opportunity to remind consumers of all the products and services offered by our Northside businesses is critical in reinforcing the importance of supporting local businesses. The Rediscover Main Street initiative has offered Business Fredericton North the opportunity to do just that and to increase and expand our free event programming for the public. These events have helped to reanimate the business area and is unprecedented in the history of our not-for-profit business improvement association.”
